CONFIGURATION INSTRUCTIONS

Before you start reading this page please check once more if you have the software listed here. You will need ALL to create the chain:

1. Winamp (www.winamp.com)
2. The Adapt-x direct-x chain plugin (www.soundprocessing.nl/adaptx)
3. Line-in plugin by Jasper v/d Gronde (http://home.hccnet.nl/th.v.d.gronde/dev/lineinWA2/index.html)
(For those who want to broadcast directly from the input, via the airchain, to the ouput of their soundcard)
4. The Waves Platinum or Diamond bundle. Demo can be downloaded at (www.waves.com)
5. DB-Audio Multiband limiter. Demo can be downloaded at (www.db-audioware.com)

Ok, you have it all? Great, let's get started...
First of all: Install all the software! You can install Winamp, the Waves bundle and the DB-audio multiband limiter on any place on your harddisk but remember that you HAVE TO install Adapt-X and the Line-in plugin in the PLUGINS folder of Winamp (normally found at c:/program files/winamp/plugins).

Configuring Winamp
In Winamp open the preferences window by pressing CTRL+P. There's no need to configure the Line-in plugin if you want to use the standard settings (which we will do here) and it is also turned on automaticly. So we can immediately go on to the next plugin which can be found under Plug-ins->DSP/Effect.

The preferences window of Winamp

You will see the plugin in a list called 'Gmixon DirectX Plugin Adapter Module [dsp_dxadapter.dll]'. Ahhh, that's the one we need! Click on it to turn it on. A little window will pop op which looks like this:

You can close the preferences window now and look at AdaptX. It works quite easy:
+ Opens a Plugin (or chain), - Removes a plugin, Move a plugin up or down with the arrows, ! bypasses the chain and you can save your configuration with the disk button. It is as easy as it looks!

You can now load all the plugins and copy the settings from my chains. Have fun, it might take you a while. :-)

Now before using the line-in plugin I advice you to load some mp3's first to check if everything is working. If your chain works and your processor is working its ass off then it's time to try your line input.
Press CTRL+L to open the URL window and type this sentence: line://title=Radio De Blauwe Dolfijn  and hit the 'Open' button.

URL window

Radio De Blauwe Dolfijn is ready to broadcast...

As soon as you press the 'Open' button your line-in plugin will appear in your playlist and you can switch on on your Flitsubatsu DJ mixer and start being mr. DJ. Watch out: Your voice can suddenly sound like a real DJ. Wowie! ;-)

"But Mr. Soundprocessing: doesn't this chain have a delay???"
Um yes, I'm sorry. The smallest delay I manage to get is like 100ms, still too much to monitor yourself through the chain. The only thing you can do about that is listen to yourself through your analog 20 Euro limiter, record the chain and listen back to it afterwards or go to the bank to get your 15.000 Euros to buy a FM8400.... Just choose your option. :-)

For all info about the line-in plugin please check Jasper's website  and learn about all the possibilities.

Radio De Blauwe Dolfijn rules!
